A series of demonstration, practice, extension and testing activities on grouping and classifying natural and man-made materials. Words included absorbency, characteristics, metamorphic, igneous, sedimentary.

Absorbency 1
A powerpoint presentation explaining the meaning of the word and how it can be used to classify materials.
Build a House
Click on the house in the middle bottom section of the screen. Learners have to build a model house choosing which types of material they would use for each part. Their decisions are evaluated online.

An animation involving a number of tasks concerning specific properties of the materials given. Finally, there is a 10 question quiz.
Bungee
An excellent activity. As the title suggests the activity is based on bungee jumping. The aim is to get the person as near to the ground as possible.
Absorbency 2
From the drop-down list on the right hand side. A short video clip explains the uses of absorbency in nappies and the use of polymers. A simple classroom experiment is shown.
Building Bonanza
An excellent interactive game with information. Learners decisions about shape, materials and direction. As each decision is made two cartoon characters assess your choice.
